TORONTO PLAYBACK THEATRE
& RALPH THORNTON CENTRE PRESENT

Stories of Difference and Common Ground

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2006 - 8 PM

A feature performance by the
TORONTO PLAYBACK THEATRE
YOUTH COMPANY

Conducted by Lua Shayenne

What do youth experience when they encounter difference?
What does it feel like to be different from those around you?
How can we find common ground with those whose values and beliefs differ from our own?

We hear so many stories these days about people divided by conflicts of culture, race, and religion. As our neighborhoods and communities become more and more diverse, perhaps it is valuable for us to examine our own response when we encounter difference. Join us for our final Playback show of the year in which we listen to youth and their stories about difference. Come share your experience, or just sit back, listen and watch.

In 2005/2006, Toronto Playback Theatre and Ralph Thornton Centre trained 9 talented young people to use Playback Theatre to create dialogue about meaningful issues with youth in our community. Winner of the 2006 Leonardo da Vinci Award for Creativity and Innovation (Arts), our youth program has worked with organizations including CCCJ Youth Leadership Forum (educating against discrimination, prejudice and bias), Connect To Youth (at-risk youth leadership and life skills training), and Riverdale Collegiate United Games (anti-violence initiative).
